The One = Digital planetary system we simply all agree on
Fragmentation of digital systems disrupts workflows and harms overall productivity. We need a cohesive system that we simply all agree on.
This doesn’t mean me hosting a website and saying “this is how it’s done, deal with it”. Instead, it’s systems analysis, i.e. analyzing in which layers we must think to foster ultimate interoperability of computer systems.
It’s an intellectual choice, to simply finally work together. It’s an active decision against competition and for finding common standards – in all areas of digital life, especially the institutional ones.
I think the entire tech sector is destined to fail. By that, I don’t mean the development of awesome technology. But why let just shareholders benefit, if the entire population can benefit? Why not engineer computer systems which would make people realize what the information age truly means: zero or one, “order” or “disorder”, “accessible” or “inaccessible”.
More and more developers are realizing that there’s more to life than fighting up the career ladder – what’s at the top? At first it’s money, and then it’s either cocaine or eventually a revelation, a sometimes deeply vulnerable and emotional way towards self-connection (Selbstverbindung) and self-belief (Selbstglaube).
More and more, the right people will work together on one unified system. It’s not someone saying “I’m the leader, all follow my example!” (a tree-like structure) but instead a more interlinked graph-like structure.
Why work on commercial companies, if beyond that, you want to work on something with people you _truly_ care about? This is not a description of a concrete software project, but an announcement of “you will find each other, trust in the process”. But: Do something for it!
Do-ocracy.
“Make something people want.” is so 2010s.
What about “Do something people want”.?
If you love peace, let’s end all fragmentation and form common standards willingly. As human society, we really have better things to worry about than computer systems that don’t work together quickly and efficiently.
